In what has been a first in my 1 3/4 years as Sports Editor at LMT, there were no national wire stories in Tuesday's Sports Section.

Plenty of local stuff, obviously, so if you haven't checked it out, here's what you're missing:

- My picks on this year's 2008-09 All-City boys basketball team, which in retrospect was a lot tougher than I imagined.

- Joy Lindsay's look at Cigarroa powerlifting star Belinda Martinez.

- Clara Sandoval's feature on the Alexander girls soccer captains, followed by Nino Cardenas' 29-5A boys playoff soccer outlook.

- The Bucks winning a close one against ol' foe Corpus Christi.

- And last, but certainly not least and arguably the most uplifting, the TAMIU softball team improving to 8-0 in conference play after sweeping UTPB.
