Soza attended Alice and was the starting QB for the Coyotes before going on to play at Texas A&I (currently Texas A&M-Kingsville).
The Advocate report stated that Soza was at Beeville for five years and led the Trojans to four playoff appearances. He had a record of 37-24 at Beeville. The Trojans went 8-5 last season and advanced to the Division II regional playoffs.
Soza was previously the head coach at Mathis for eight seasons. He has an overall head coaching record of 101-57.
He replaces Brent Davis, who resigned from Alice in late January to take over the program at San Angelo Central.
Alice's offensive and defensive coordinators went along with him.
The Coyotes went 31-13 in four seasons under Davis and snapped a six-year playoff drought in his third year at the helm.
Last season, they had their best season in 23 years. Alice finished 12-1, winning its first district title since 1985 and reaching the fourth round of the Class 4A Division I playoffs.
