The District 31-4A golf meet came to a close on Tuesday, while the District 29-5A and 31-4A tennis meets got started on Wednesday.
The 31-4A golf meet finished its final round of play at the River Hills Country Club in Corpus Christi on Tuesday.
Three Laredoans are headed to the Class 4A regional meet in San Antonio in two weeks. They are Cigarroa’s Angelo Escamilla, Nixon’s Yesenia Ramirez and LBJ’s Maria Velasco.
Escamilla shot a 165 and placed fifth individually in the two-day tourney and will join Alice’s Juan Gonzalez at regional as the boys’ individuals top finisher.
Ramirez shot a 189 and placed fourth individually, while Velasco shot a 206 and finished sixth.
The Flour Bluff and Calallen boys teams will be going to the regional meet, as well as the Tuloso-Midway and Calallen girls teams.
Overall, the top five girls teams at the 31-4A meet were Tuloso-Midway (370-365—735), Calallen (425-416-841), Flour Bluff (429-455-884), Nixon (456-463-919) and LBJ (494-483-977).
The top five girls individuals were Tuloso-Midway’s Coburn trio of Kelsey (78-84-162), Korey (97-85-182) and Keeley (91-92-183), Nixon’s Ramirez (93-96-189) and Calallen’s Kayce Sanchez (101-104-205).
The top five boys teams were Flour Bluff (329-328-657), Calallen ‘A’ (336-332-668), Alice (340-348-688), Calallen ‘B’ (364-358-722) and Cigarroa (378-350-728).
The top five boys individuals were Flour Bluff’s Stephen Litz (76-77-153), Calallen’s Jacob Larrabee (78-79-157), Alice’s Gonzalez (79-81-161), Flour Bluff’s Ruben Jimenez (80-81-161) and Cigarroa’s Escamilla (87-78-165).
The top two boys and girls teams advance to regional, as well as the low two individual boys and girls who were not on an advancing team.
The District 29-5A boys and girls meet will be held next week in San Antonio.
